Honorary OBE for Mary Crowley
10 June 2008 (internal news)

Ed Balls, Secretary of State for the Department for Children, Schools and Families, presented an honorary OBE to Mary Crowley.

Mary Crowley received her award on 10 June 2008 at Lancaster House, London.

Ed Balls, Mary Crowley

Secretary of State Ed Balls said:

"This is an exceptional achievement and Mary Crowley should be extremely proud of her services to children and families. She thoroughly deserves this recognition for her work on improving and standardising the quality of parenting support delivered by frontline practitioners and in setting up National Occupational Standards for Work with Parents. These standards are considered essential to the ongoing effective training and delivery of quality parenting support services in the UK and exemplify a fundamental skill area for all those who are working with parents across a range of professions.

As Director of the Leonardo da Vinci transnational network with 19 partners in ten countries, Mary has also raised awareness of the importance of training for work with parents across Europe.

Mary is now working as Stakeholder Adviser at the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners, where she has brought her experience of the field to bear, building the Academy's relationships with stakeholders across the third sector and elsewhere. I know that she will continue to build these relationships and good practice".
