Focus on parental substance misuse

Substance misuse can have a significant adverse effect on parenting, yet it remains one of the most overlooked and underdeveloped areas of service provision available for both parents and children. This Focus on parental substance misuse features latest research and examines how the Government responds to the needs of families affected by problem alcohol or drug use. It also provides practitioners working with such families with a range of hands-on information, including training and events, publications and contacts.

Parental substance misuse and the Academy

The Academy supports Government initiatives to ensure that families with complex needs receive a whole family package of support.

Research

Appropriate and effective family interventions and services for substance misuse are the main focus of a number of research studies.
