It is widely recognised that fathers have an important role to play in the lives of their children and in recent years government initiatives and strategies for the family have begun to place an equal emphasis on the need to involve both mother and father in parenting services. This Focus on fathers gives practitioners an overview of recent research and policy concerning fathers and of what the Academy is doing to engage fathers along with other information useful for those whose work involves – or should involve – fathers.
