Quality research
The function of our research is to provide evidence and set standards – and this is what distinguishes the Academy from a straightforward training organisation. The plan is designed to be entirely practical, and aimed solely at helping practitioners deliver better services to parents and children. It will start to generate evidence that will make widespread improvements to practice from the first year onwards.
The Academy's research programme is overseen by its director, Professor Stephen Scott of King's College, which has the top Research Assessment Exercise rating – its five stars denote international excellence. Our research team includes expert evidence based practitioners, with advanced training and supervision accreditation, ensuring all our research is grounded in practical, real-life considerations and that the learning can be translated quickly into improved services.
To guarantee the quality of our research, it will be overseen by an independent international scientific advisory group in addition to the quality assurance provided by King's College London. We will also set up a research reference group to ensure effective integration with other research sponsored by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and to enable stakeholders to keep abreast of, and comment on, Academy research work.
