What qualification do parenting practitioners need?
The parenting academy recommends that all parenting practitioners have a minimum qualification level of QCF level 3 and that the workforce is graduate led, in line with the government's aims for professionalising and improving the skills of the workforce more generally.
The QCF level 3 Work with Parents qualification is the most relevant basic qualification for parenting practitioners who are working at a preventative or universal level with parents.
Statutory and voluntary services are developing their services for parents, and this may involve the creation of new roles. Services will need to consider the level of knowledge and skills required to fulfil these roles and that plans for services take careful account of the levels of practitioner qualification, knowledge and skills needed for particular services.
